If you scribble or write epistles, you are welcome to the Chatham Writers Group held on the lower floor of Chatham Library. We offer a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Read something you have written and received feedback and suggestions.

We meet on Tuesdays from promptly at 10:30 am to Noon. Upcoming meeting dates include: January 7, February 4, February 18, March 4, March 18, April 1, and April 15.

A Funny Thing...

We were leaving an evening meeting of NAMI, National Alliance for Mental Illness, when pulled over within a block or two. The routine: license, registration et al. Asked where I had been, what I was doing. This began this nice young officer's introduction first to NAMI, the to AA. He knew nothing about either.

He heard about my class of 200 at Bethlehem Central who lost 6 classmates, all boys, in two alcohol and speed related accidents. The description of the impact on the face of one still brings chills. And yet I drank and drove, particularly coming down the mountain from a beer blast near Thacher Park.
